Foothill Country Dancers promotes New England-style contra dancing in the northern Sierra Nevada foothills. Contra dancing is non-commercial, do-it-yourself, socially inclusive, community-building, participatory, musically driven recreation. No experience is necessary--all dances are taught and prompted, and no partner is required. The music is always live.

FCD sponsors two regular monthly dances:

Special Dance in Truckee!

Saturday, August 29

Truckee Community Art Center
10046 Church St, Truckee

A special 5th-Saturday contra dance co-sponsored by the Sacramento Country dance Society, the Sierra Contra Dance Society (Reno), and Foothill Country Dancers, with help from folks in Truckee. The caller is our very own Joyce Miller, and the music will come from the Newcastle house band, Starthistle. The dance begins at 7:30 and runs to 10:30; admission is $12. This is always a really fun dance, so be sure to put it on your calendar.
